Calcium Carbonate Preliminary Crushing
Preliminary crushing is an indispensable pre-process in the calcium carbonate powder processing flow, whose core function is to crush large-grained calcium carbonate raw ore to a particle size range that meets the feeding requirements of subsequent grinding equipment.
After mining, the particle size of calcium carbonate raw ore can usually reach tens of centimeters or even larger. If it is directly fed into grinding equipment such as vertical mills, it will not only exceed the equipment’s feeding limits, but also cause strong impact on core components like grinding rollers and discs, accelerating equipment wear. Meanwhile, it will greatly reduce grinding efficiency and increase energy consumption. The preliminary crushing process generally adopts equipment such as jaw crushers and impact crushers to crush large ore lumps into uniform particles of several millimeters to more than ten millimeters, meeting the feeding standards of downstream equipment.
In addition, the preliminary crushing process can initially screen out impurities such as soil and metal debris mixed in the raw materials through its screening function, reducing the interference of impurities in subsequent processing steps. It not only ensures the stable operation of the equipment, but also lays a solid foundation for producing calcium carbonate powder with uniform particle size and qualified quality.
