Vertical Mill Production Process

The vertical mill is a special layer extrusion grinding equipment for calcium carbonate powder processing. Its structural design is highly compatible with the physical properties of calcium carbonate, and it can achieve efficient grinding through the extrusion force between the grinding rollers and the grinding disc. In the conventional processing mode, relying on the built-in classification system of the equipment, the fineness of the finished product can stably reach 1250 mesh, which can meet the filler needs of industries such as coatings and plastics. When combined with the secondary and tertiary classification processes, the maximum fineness of the finished product can reach 3000 mesh, which can accurately meet the application requirements of high-end fields such as high-grade papermaking and advanced composite materials.

How it works

The motor drives the grinding disc to rotate through the reducer. Calcium carbonate raw materials fall into the center of the grinding disc from the feed inlet, move toward the edge of the grinding disc under the action of centrifugal force, and are crushed by the strong rolling of the grinding rollers. The crushed calcium carbonate powder overflows from the edge of the grinding disc, and is then lifted by the high-speed upward hot air flow from the nozzle ring (air ring) and sent into the high-efficiency classifier integrated with the vertical mill for classification. Coarse powder is returned to the grinding disc for re-grinding after classification; fine powder is discharged from the mill along with the air flow and collected by the dust collection device as the finished product. Coarse calcium carbonate particles that are not lifted by the air flow and metal impurities that enter accidentally will settle at the air ring, be scraped out by the scraper, and then be sent back to the mill for reprocessing through the external circulation bucket elevator.

With precisely controlled fit clearance between the ring rollers and grinding rings, it can process calcium carbonate powder to an ultra-fine precision of up to 2500 mesh (about 5 microns). This process features lower energy consumption than traditional equipment and a low proportion of over-ground powder in the finished product, which ensures uniform particle size distribution and lower oil absorption value of calcium carbonate powder. It is suitable for processing calcium carbonate materials with a Mohs hardness below grade 5 and moderate fineness requirements.

Raymond Mill Production Process

In the calcium carbonate industry, the Raymond mill is one of the earliest and most widely used grinding equipment in the world. Its conventionally processed calcium carbonate powder has relatively low fineness, which is mainly suitable for the large-scale production of ordinary calcium carbonate powder with a mesh size of over 400. With secondary classification, small batches of products with a mesh size of 500–1250 can be obtained, thus having the capability of large-scale production of coarse powder and small-batch production of fine powder.
